THE WEATHER
WELLINGTON, August 24. Mr Kidson’s evening report states: The depression is now centred near Chatham Islands. A feeble anticyclone lies over the eastern Tasman Sea. but another slight depression has developed in the western portion. Forecast: Moderate to strong southerly winds, decreasing gradually, and later backing to northerly. Seas rather rough, but moderating on the West Coast; rough on the East Coast south of Napiei; elsewhere, moderate. Moderate to strong southerly, and later veering northerly winds, and moderate io rather rough seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather still cold, cloudy and unsettled, with further showers, but a temporary improvement soon.
