That the cyclonic storm which visited Wellington last week left a trail of destruction in its wake is cvideii 1 from the comprehensive series of photographs included in this week’s issue of the “Nnv Zealand Free Lamo.” The pictures illustrate the extent, of the damage to the Hutt-Valley-Wellington railway, and in addition there are a number of photographs dealing with the havoc wrought by the gale in the suburban area. Prominence is given to an excellent panorama of th<> Canterbury Racing Club’s picturesqm* course at Riccarton. and there are photographs of all the principal events at last week’s Grand National meeting. Among subjects of interest to sporting enthusiasts are the inter-Is-land Rugby match which was played at Christchurch on Saturday, and the English Amateur Athletic Championships in which a number of the Olympic representatives participated.
