MISSING SOLICITOR.

Declared Bankrupt. WARRANT FOR ARREST. CHRISTCHURCH, August 22. A meeting of the creditors of J. B. Batchelor, solicitor, called by advertisement, was held tc-day. About fifty were present. Batchelor left Christchurch early this month, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The warrant is still unexecuted. The meeting to-day was held in camera. There was no means of ascertaining the total amount of debts, but it was evident that they were considerable. The meeting decided that Batchelor be made a bankrupt, and a solicitor was instructed accordingly. The chairman stated, after the meeting, that he believed the toial debts would amount to £6OOO, but the exact amount was yet unknown.
