SOUTHLAND’S CELEBRATIONS. INVERCARGILL, Mae 20. sJbhland’s May Fair celebrations emJWded amid the most enthusiastic "" Saturday night, when, despite -OMiourahle weather conditions, trernNkims crowds, many in fancy dress -warned through the main streets. No traffic was permitted through the centre of the town between 7.30 and 10.30 p.m., and here the merriment was at its height. The week has been a memorable one for Southlanders, and numerous visitors who were present. It is safe to assume that the festival, which was instituted last year, has become an established event in the social life of the province.
