CROQUET
MAKURA CLUB. Thursday was the closing day of the Makura Club’s season. A large number of members and their friends assembled .at the grounds, where comper titions were played and afternoon tea was served by the Club members. The Wednesday afternoon j competition which has continued over a period of seventeen weeks, was concluded during the afternoon. In the A Section, the trophy was won by Mrs Allan Smith and the B Section by Miss Sheedy. Following are the scores:—Mrs Smith 1.5, Miss Sheedy 15, Mrs Hannan 13' Mrs Say well 12, Mrs Fogarty 10, Mrs Phillips 10, Mrs Tennent 9. Mrs Cobuni 9, Mrs Whibley 1, Mrs Hoglund 1. Highest aggregate score for the season :— A Section. Mrs T. R. Saywell. B Section, Mrs A. Phillips. In the golf croquet competition, an innovation was introduced by playing the event on handicap. It proved very interesting. Mrs Coburn (9 bisques) was the winner.
The result of the golf putting was a tie between Mesdamcs Hoglund, Coburn and Say well. In the play off Mrs Saywell won. Th? final of the handicap single played for a trophy presented by Airs T. Jones, was won by Mrs Allan ‘ Smith. In the championship singles, Mrs F. W. Whibley scored the highest number of points against the winner Mrs I). Ten nen t.
