KARORO SPORTS

YESTERDAY’S RESULTS. The Karoro Athletic and Axemen’s Carnival was held at the Karoro Domain yesterday. The ■weather was most unfavourable, and greatly affected the attendance of public. For the meeting, the nominations received were most encouraging to the Club, but on account of the weather, the acceptors were few, apart from the chops, which drew good numbers, and which Mere very interesting. The cycle road race, Karoro to Paroa and back, attracted ten starters, which under the prevailing conditions, must have been considered very satisfactory. The Secreatry, Mr F. A. Hughes-, worked hard for the meeting, and the fact that the Club will be financially on the right side is, to a large extent, due to the untiring efforts and ability of Air Hughes. The Committeemen 1 spared no effort in their endeavours to successfully control the meeting, which was well handled. Messrs Galbraith and D. Moffat were the starters, the former handling the field and cycle, events, and the latter starting the axemen. A special word of thanks is due to the La«lies’ Committee, who conducted the afternoon tea arrangements; a refreshing cup of tea and a sandwich being appreciated by many attending the sports. The Club wish to sincerely .thank all those who so generously donated trophies for the meeting. Following are the results:— Schoolboys’ Race, 13 years and under.—De Freatus 1, D. .Tames 2.
