MOTOR TRAGEDIES In Many Places LONDON, April 9. The main roads were crowded with holiday motor traffic, and there wore numerous fatalities, including a shocking aeehleut at Bowling, Dumbartonshire. when a three-wheeled motor car was smashed in collision with a motor omnibus, killing a man. a woman, and two eight months old children. The three-wheeler attempted to cross in Iron! of the omnibus. The driver of the car was pinned to the scat and instantly killed. The other live were pitched on to the road, kill ing Hie woman, while the babies were still clasped in her arms. f S’! April 10. Thomas Robertson, farm manager, nf Pnkelapu, was killed last evening through the ear in which he was travelling to Napier going over a bank on the Te Ante Hill. ' AUCKLAND, April 10. Fatal injuri's were sustained by Maude Ivy Timpley, aged 15. who fell from a horse at Muriwai Beach on Saturday afternoon. She suffered a compound fracture of the skull, and did not regain consciousness, dying yesterday afternoon. CHRISTCHURCH, April 10. James Murison, aged 07, was burned t" death in his hut at Prebbleton yeslerday morning. . . Evidence al I lie inquest showed that i deceased was a bachelor, and had li\ed alone in lhe hut for 20 years. A verdict of death from injuries, through ‘the hut catching fire, was return 'd. The Sumner lifeboat rescued Hie crew of four of the yacht Huia, owned by Mr G. 11. Farr, which capsize.,! in rough weather on the Sumner Liar yesterday. The rescued members of the crew were little the worse for thoir experience. MOTOR VICTIM: DIES. DUNEDIN, April 10. Geoffrey Moncrieff Gilchrist, a school boy, aged seven years, died at an early hour this morning., presumably as the result of injuries received when he was knocked down by a motor car on 12th March. At lhe time of the accident, the boy was ,taken io the Hospital, where he was placed on the- dangerously ill list. His condition improved, and ; oii April 2, he was allowed to go home, where he again took ill wnd died. DUNEDIN, April 10. An inquest was opened this morning, and evidence of identtification was taken. CAR SOMERSAULTS THREE TIMES A taxi driver, Angus McDiarmitl. of Balclutha, met with an accident when driving back from Hillend on Sunday with two male passengers. At Bishop’s, .the car overturned, and somersaulted twice down a bank. The passegers wen* unhurt, but McDiarmid suffered a broken arm. bruises and cuts. lie was taken to Balclutha Hospital for treatment.
