TWO NAVAL OFFICERS The Mediterranean Affair (Received March 29 at 10.10 p.m.) GIBRALTAR; March 28. Captain Dewar and Commander Daui- ' I are being here tried by Court Martial in connection with their differences with Admiral Collard. Captain Dewar and Commander Daniel are charged under Section 43 of the Naval Discipline Act, whereby a person guilty of an aet of disorder or of neglect prejudicing the good order of naval discipline shall be dismissed from the Service, with disgrace, involving the forfeiture of pensons, medals and decorations, and also incapacity to serve in any Navy Army or Air Force, or the Civil Service. It may be modified to dismissal from the Service or dismissal from their ship. THE NATURE OF THE CHARGE. GIBRALTAR, March 29. The breach of discipline with which Commander Daniel is charged refers to n report upon the events connected with the departure of Admiral Collard, which Commander Daniel addressed to Captain Dewar, the terms of which were allegedly subversive of discipline, and contrary to the King’s Regulations, as it contained criticisms of his superior, who was Admiral Collard. Captain Dewar is charged with accepting and forwarding Daniel’s letter to Vice-Admiral Kelly, the Commander of the First Battle Squadron. THE DEFENCE. GIBRALTAR, March 29. Captain Dewar and Commander Deniel spent eleven hours in preparing an answer to the charges. The authorities are affording them every facility, and have provided them wit? accommodation aboard the Valiant, wnich is stationed near the Royal Oak. The witnesses required were conveyed to the Valiant.
