i CROSSING DISASTER. MELBOURNE, March 27. There is a fourth victim, Miss Josephine Lamont, dead as the result of a train crashing into a motor truck at a crossing near Mildura. The others killed were Ivy Moss, and Colin Pickf/U. Two others are in a critical condition, and one is serious. This crossing is recognised as extremely dangerous, as the view of approaching vehicles is obstructed. The train was a special. It is thought that Beauman, who was driving the truck, was unaware it was due. ISLANDERS FORGOTTEN. EYDNEY, March 27. The loneliness of the community of Tristand da Chuna. is emphasised in a letter, published by the Sydney Morning Herald, from a resident of the group, delivered eleven months after the dispatch' The letter was inscribed 5.0.5., and addressed to any leading newspaper, ami marked “No stamps here.” The writer asks: “Plefise be good enough to help us in our lonely exile here. Will you ask shippers to let their vessels call on the way to America?” It goes on .to say that the potatoes failed Jn the winter of 1926, ami the inhabitants are faced with semi-starvation, and asks: “Is it right to ignore the island for twelve to eighteen months, and even longer?” It adds .that some letters posted in 1923 arrived only in March, 1927.
