OLYMPIC SCULLERS

THE N.Z. EIGHT I Selection Made WELLINGTON, March 25. The oarsmen picked to represent the Dominion at the Olympic. Games are the following: H. F. McLean (Wellington), C. 8. Morris (Canterbury), F. H. Brown (Canterbury), C. A. Healey (Wanganui), T. Brough (Otago), V. Olsson (Marlborough), L. Brooker (Auckland), C. A. Stylis (Canterbury), G. St. Clair (Auckland), G. Duggan (Canterbury); reserves, H. G. Style (Canterbury) and N. Webber (Auckland). Messrs A. P., Bayfield and E. S. Innes (Wellington), TT. Ayres (<’:intebury), A. M. Hale (Marlborough), and W. Sharp (Wanganui) were the selectors. After the inter provincial eights were rowed on Saturday, two crews were picked for the possibles and probables races over 1 I miles. They were:—Possibles (No. 1 position'): C. A- Henley (Wanganui) stroke; L. Brooker (Auckland) seven; F. Brough (Otago) six; C. S. Moiris (Canterbury) live; C: A. Styles (Canterbury) four: G. St. Clair (Auckland) three; F. 11. Brown (Canterbury) two; C. J. Mc.Ara (Otago) bow. Probables (No. 2 position): W. Gibbons (Marlborough) stroke; G. Duggan (Canterbury) seven; E. F. Hegglun (Marlborough) six: 11. F. McLean (Wellington), five; S. P. Godfrey (Canterbury) four; B. Sandos (Auckland) three; J. C.-Braithwaite (Otago) two; 11. G. Styles (Canterbury) bow. From a good start .the Possibles soon took the lead. After the crews had settled down, the Possibles were still slightly in the lead, and after rowing for a quarter of a mile, were a canvas ahead. After half a mile, the positions were the same. The Possibles sprin.ed near the finish, and, amidst great excitement, they, came in first, with the Probable’s barely three-quarters of a length behind. '
