VANCOUVER EXECUTION. VANCOUVER, March 23. George McDonald was hanged at Valleyfield at 5.37 this morning. No newspaper men were admitted to the hanging. The murderer mounted the gallows steps firmly. A telegram was received at the gaol during the night from his reprieved wife, Doris. It reads: “Tomorrow, Mass will be offered. I will never eease to pray for you. May Our Blessed Lady receive you at the gate of heavdn.” On reading the message., McDonald murmured “God bless her soul.’’ Before tin* hanging, Mass was celebrated. McDonald received the Holy Communion. Seventy five prisoners, officials and detectives attended the service. There was a delay of half an hour, the hangman, Ellis insisting on daylight. Doris McDonald, known as the “Jlappcr slayer,” was reprieved. 3’he eoupl ■ were condemned for the murder of Adelaide Bouchard, a taxi-driver, who was shot and robbed while taking them to the international border last. Much interest has been aroused by the statement from the Secretary of the Interior, Mr Work, that Mr Hoover now has enough probable votes to secure his nomination in the first Presidential ballot at the Republican National Convention.
