ACCIDENTS AND DEATH’
MENTAI. PATIENT’S FATAL BURNS. CHRISTCHURCH, March 21. Wien ”a patient in the Sunnyside Mental Hospital, Holly May Butler aged 31, waS attending to a lire on Sunday morning, her clothes caught firo and she died later from severe burns. Deceased had been au inmate since 1984. At an inquest to-day the Coroner, Mr Young, S.M., found that the woman had died from the effects of severe burns, accidentally received. It was stated in evidence that Butler Was putting coal on the lire, which she had a right to do, when her apron caught fire. She ran 'screaming down the ward, but was almost immediately seized by two sisters who rolled her on the floor and put blankets over her to smother the flames.
