INTERNATIONAL GRAIN CONFERENCE. OTTAWA, March 19. A message from Regina states that the world’s grain exhibition and conference at which other Dominions are to be represented, is planned for Regina in 1932, backed by the Governments of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. The agricultural colleges and farmers’ organisations have pledged co-operation. A delegation was sent to Ottawa to ask the Dominion Department of Agriculture to take charge of the organisation. MEAT TRUST. WASHINGTON, March 19. Swift and Armour Packing Interests lost the attempt to have the United States Supreme Court cancel the famous 1920 packers’ consent decree. Justice Brandeis announced the court’s decision. The decree, entered in the District of Columbia Supreme Court, as the culmination of the anti-trust suit started by the Federal Government, was signed by 135 defendants, including the biggest packers, and enjoined them from engaging in any activities which the Government alleged to be a violation of the anti-trust SYDNEY WOOL SALES. SYDNEY, March 20. At the wool sales, the demand was keen, and prices were well maintained for all well grown descriptions, fully equal to the best rates of last week. Skirty, burry and inferior lines are still irregular. Greasy merino told to 29 J pence.
LONDON WOOL SALES. LONDON, March 19. 1 At the wool sales, 10,274 bales were sold of which 69i25 were Australian and 2419 New Zealand. There were excellent offerings in merinos, and a limited supply of greasy crossbreds. There was general competition and prices were on the highest level of the series. At Bradford prices were exceedingly firm, but there was little business.
