MASKED ROBBERS
HOLD UP TRAIN In Suburb of Chicago MAIL SAFE BLOWN OPEN (.Received Feb. 25th at 5 p.m.) NEW YORK, February 25. Six masked robbers this morning captured a train in the suburban district of Chicago ami took complete possession of the train, over-jpveing lhe crew ami seventy-five passengers in true wild west style.
In twelve minutes they had blown the safe open in the mail car and secured 100,000 dollars li> currency, and escaped with it in an automobile. The robbers appeared alongside the train when it stopped to let off passengers at a station fourteen miles outside Chicago. Two members of tin l band went to the engine and held uu the engineer and fireman. Two forced The remainder of the crew into The rear of the car and two hammered on the locked door of the baggage car, until the clerk appeared when a volley of shots was fired, but nobody was hit. These two then dynamited the door of the coach and overpowered the clerk and obtained loot, after which the whole (inietly but speedily disappeared.
