AUSTRALIAN CYCLONE
BUILDINGS DEMOLISHED Walls Crumble Like Paper PERTH, February 12. A cyclone, by far the most severe ever experienced in the district, struck Coolgardie, Kalgoorlie, and Boulder City, causing damage estimated al thousands sterling. An unconfirmed report states that a girl was killed at Boulder City. Every 1 - thing in the course of the cyclone was shaken, and in many cases buildings were either entirely demolished or bad ly damaged. The cyclone maintained its full force only a couple of minutes, but tore Toofs from buildings and crumpled Walls like so much paper. Telegraph |i nd telephone lines were blown down. >B s olnting districts. _ Shortly afterwards f here was a heavy downpour of rain, v hich mad'* things more uncomfortable, particularly for those whose homes Were unroofed. Red Torrents ' BLOWS IN SIDE OF TRAIN. PANDEMONIUM .AMONG PASSENGERS. LATER. A rough estimate of the damage by the cyclone is £150.000. As far as is known, no lives were lost. Rain fell in red torrents as the result of masses of dust in the atmosphere. A large portion of the roof of the Kalgoorlie Railway Station fell over the Continental express, which was ready to start. The windows on the platform side blew in. causing pandemonium amongst the passengers seated in the train. A num her of persons at various places arc reported to be injured by falling debris which were carried long distances. The main business portion of Kalgoorlie escaped lightly, but the reside n t ini quarter suffered severely.
