THUG CAUGHT.
BLUNDERS INTO LAW’S ARMS. After having evaded the police for several years, an ex-sailor, Franz Sowa, a notorious footpad, wanted for felonious assault, blundered into the arms of the law by trespassing on the grass in a city park. When arrested for talking qn the public green, Sowa, better known to the criminal fraternity as “Boxing Franz” at first gave his name ah Soda. his strange appelllation aroused the suspicions of the police, who with this due succeeded in tracing his identity. “Boxing Franz” is famous among his pals for his two special methods of assault. One he calls the “Danish Kiss.” It is a sharp blow with the edge of the flattened hand on the jugular vein, which causes the victim to drop senseless. The other, which he has artistically designated the “Liptrill,” consists of a smashing blow of the fist on his victim’s upper front teeth. While this latter methoA does not always prove a knock-out, i invariably renders the recipient pow irless for a time.
