In Parliament. TWO MEMBERS “FALL IN.” (Special to Argus.) WELLINGTON, November 30. It was too much to hope that, on such a contentious question as that of Licensing, Members of the House of Representatives would refrain from personalities and quiet jibes across the floor of the Chamber. Members who felt strongly upon the question were so keyed up that they fell an easy prey to the bait carefully laid by their fellows. Mr W. D. Lysnar (Gisborne) was the first. He said that the Prime Minister had been pulled in the wrong direction by a lot of weaklings. Someone interjected: “What about the Chairman of the Meat Board?” Mr Lysnar: “Well, if you want to be drawn into the mess, follow him! He will kill you, and kill your party! ” Major Waite (recalling the fire a couple of days ago in Mr Lysnar’s room in the Parliament Buildings): “But he will not try to burn the place down.” (Laughter). Mr Nosworthy was the next. “Who are you attacking now?” he asked, when he woke up suddenly at the sound of Mr Atmore’s voice in the Chamber this afternoon.
Mr Atmore: “If the Minister had been awake, instead of asleep, he would know what I was talking about.” Mr Nosworthy (wearily): “Your voice would keep anyone awake!” (Laughter). Mr Atmore: “Yes, and if the Minister kept more awake, he would be able to more efficiently administer his duties as a Minister. ’ ’
