RUNANGA NOTES.

(Our Own Correspondent.) Alisses K. and B. Garvey, who have been on a holiday visit to the North Island, returned home by yesterday’s Air G. R. Hunter and Miss I. Hunter, former residents of Runanga, are visiting the Coast, and have been looking up old friends in Runanga. On Sunday afternoon the hockey match on the Domain was, through the showery state of the weather, not as successful as was anticipated. However, those who were present witnessed a very interesting game, which resulted in a win for the ladies by three goals to one.

On Sunday afternoon the Star cricket team journeyed to Dunollie, and were easily defeated by the home. team. The Runanga bowlers were defeated in their matches on Saturday afternoon. The Convent euchre was held on Saturday evening, and the winners were: Mrs Gilligan first, Airs Berry second. This Committee intend holding a euchre tournament on Saturday evening, 3rd December. The final of this season’s tournaments for the Library was held on Monday evening, when the winners were: Mr Joe Garvey first, Airs Kennedy second, Mr Jim Garvey third. The winner of the season’s prize was Airs Oakley.
