SUBSIDY FOR CABLE COMPANIES
CANBERRA, November 26. Mr Bruc-' stated that a Committee would be appointed to consider the position of cable companies in view of the diversion of forty-five per cent, of their traffic to the beam system. The Committe? will investigate what subsidy, if any, be necessary to compensate cable companies for the traffic lost to the beam. He added that the Government recognised the necessity for the efficient operation of cable lines, to provide reliable secret com luunieation against th emergency of war. MOUNTED POLICE FOR TRAFFIC. SYDNEY, November 24. The Chief Secretary decided that mounted police be utilised to assist in regulating the traffic in and around Sydney.
