THE WEATHER
WELLINGTON, September 1. Mr Pemberton reports: The present indications are for strong, but decreasing, southerly winds, veering shortly to westerly and northwesterly, southwards of New Plymouth and Castlepoint. The weather will be cold and changeable generally, with scattered showers, but is improving, especially the northern and east coast dis tricts. The barometer is rising, hut will fall temporarily in the southern districts soon.
