WEDDING.

DUSKE—PAYNE. A pretty wedding, in which one of the contracting parties was a West Coaster, took place on the 7th inst. at St John’s Church, Rai.giora, when Alice Maude, elder daughter of Air ami Mrs Edmund Payne, Rangiora, was married to David Charles Duske, only son of Mr and Mrs C. Duske, of Blackball, West Coast. The church was prettily decorated by friends of the bride. The Rev. J. F. Feron was the officiating clergyman, and Mr J. C. Thompson presided at the organ, the service being fully choral. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a model gown of oyster georgette made with a scalloped skirt heavily embroidered with sequins. From a coronet of orange blossom hung her hand-embroidered tulle veil. She carried a sheaf of Arum lilies. Two bridesmaids were in attendance, Miss Doris Payne, sister of the bride, and Miss Rita Tomlinson, cousin of th.* bride, both wearing frocks made on similar lines of peace and mauve silk de chine respectively, the frocks being made with a fitting bodice and full skirt with inset bands of radium lace, and georgette sleeves to match. Round their hair they wore diamondette coronets finished with georgette bows. Air I). AlcEwan attended as best man, and Mr A. Ilorrell as groomsman. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the Parish Hall, where the guests were received by the bride’s mother, who wore a handsome frock of black silk marocain relieved with floral trimmings. Iler black panne velvet hat was trimmed with an osprey mount and gold ribbon to tone. Amongst the guests present were:— Air and Airs C. Duske, sen., Airs W. Thirlwall, Air and Airs G. Alaule, Airs T. Tomlinson, C. Rawlings, C. 11. Elsom, J. A. Ivory, AV. "Watson, Masters 11. Tomlinson, Philip Ilorrell, Clifford Ilorrell, and Philip Alorriss. The presents were both numerous and costly, including many cheques.
