REEFTON NOTES.
(Our Own Correspondent). An alarm of fire was raised at 8.15 p.m. on Wednesday evening, and was located in an unoccupied building in Broadway, adjoining Dawson’s Hotel. It was discovered in the early stages by the staff of Dawson’s Hotel, who quickly got the hotel hose playing on the dames. The Fire Brigade lost no time in arriving, and the outbreak was soon extinguished. It was found to have its origin underneath the building, where it stands on piles about six feet high. The building is owned by Mr L. Harris, and is insured iu the State Office for £3OO. Mr and Mrs L. Harrie, of Dobson, paid a short visit to Reefton on Wednesday. Mrs Stott, of Buller Road, met with an accident in Broadway on Wednesday evening, during the progress oi the Fire Brigade’s operations at the lire, through getting foul of the hose, and she received a cut on the face, as well as sustaining shoe*. There was a record attendance al the Fire Brigade’s euchre on Thursday evening, and an enjoyable evening resulted. The competition was keen, five ladies playing off for second prize. The prizes were won as follows: Mrs F. Kearns 1, Mrs Collins 2; Mr W McArthur 1, Mr Thos. Galbraith 2.
