The Commissioner for War Service Homes reports that the Commission expended nearly twenty-four millions In the erection of nearly thirty-one thousand soldiers’ homes all over the Commonwealth and in the purchase ot land in anticipation of further applications Ten millions of the loans have been reP As an indication of the increased efficiency of the organisation and the manner in which the purchasers are meeting their obligations, the arrears in instalments are equal only to one per ehnt while the administrative losses which in 1926 totalled £42,000 were I last year changed into a surplus oi £22 000 and it is expected the current year’s surplus will be greater.
