IMPENDING ACTION AGAINST BIG TREE.
CHARGE OF SLANDER. Legal circles arc considerably interested in an action for slander against Big Tree brought by Miss Ermyntrude McFoozle which will be tried in Wellington next week.
• “The thing is a positive scandal,” Miss McFoozle declared to a “Bulletin” reporter. “The other night I was standing on the kerb in Courtenay Place (it was rather dark, I’ll admit) when a rude man drew up in a motor car and demanded to be filled up with Big Tree. The Big Tree people have no right to design pumps so that people 'mistake me for one. I’m an honest woman and I’ve never had anything to do with spirits of any sort in all my life,” Miss McFoozle gulped indignantly. “Another thing is tnat I’ve lost my fiance. lie’s a little short sighted and lie found himself embracing True Blue Pumps for me.” An offer on the part of Big Tree to fit Miss McFoozle with illuminated headgear has been scornfully refused.
