MASTERTON, June 16/ The Wairarapa Rugby Union tonight accepted the challenge of Hawke’s Union for the Ranfurly Shield match in Masterton on July 9th. As a large crowd is anticipated, the Union decided to play the match on the Solway Show grounds, which was offered by the A. and P. Association at a reasonable rent. Prior to the Shield match, Wairarapa will play home v. home games with the Bush Union; the latter of the two games being a Shield challenge. The team for the first game which will be played at Pahiatua on Wednesday of next week, is the Ch.nllenge team which defeated Hawke’s Bay on June 3rd. N.Z. TOUR OF SOUTH AFRICA. (Per Press Assn.) WELLINGTON, June 16. The New Zealand Rugby Union has decided to adhere to its decision to limit the South African tour to twentyone matches, including three tests. MAORI TOUR.
WELLINGTON, June 16. A Maori team will tour the Dominion in July and August, playing at Auckland, Rotorua, Gisborne, Pahiatua, Pal merston, Masterton, Nelson, Westport, Greymocth, Oamaru and Dunedin.
