WELLINGTON, April 6. Advice has been received by the Rugby Football Council of the New Zealand Universities that the Sydney University is unable to agree to a change of dates for the New Zealand team’s visit to Sydney, owing to important international matches. It will be necessary, therefore, for the New Zealand team to leave for Sydney on May 13. RANFURLY SHIELD. GISBORNE April 4. The hope that Poverty Bay will have 1 Rugby team strong enough to warrant a challenge for the Ranfurly Shield this season is generally held among football enthusiasts there, and in order to give substance to the general desire, the union proposes to have 30 men go into training at the begining of the season, under the supervision of Mr J. Hall, the selector and coach, and upon their development as a team the lodging of a challenge for the Ranfurly ShieM. will depend.
