Mr Stronach Paterson has writ leu to Sir James "Parr, resigning his position as the Government Representative on the London Agency of the New Zealand Dairy Control Board. The letter points out that Mr Paterson had discussed the matter fully with Mr Coates last November, and quotes Mr Paterson’s letter to Mr Coates of November Bth, suggesting that the only course open to the writer was to continue his work, as opportunity offered, for such a modification of the machinery of Control as mtgnt mitigate the bad results he had feared, and for the breaking of the prevailing hostility to New Zea!and Dairy, produce, and also ior the re-ettablisbinent of, ‘goodwill and co-operation in all branches of the dairy produce trade in this eori.try. This Mr Coates had agreed to. He also quotes a letter to Mr Coates of December/28th, stating he (Mr Paterson) tvould consent to carry on his duties, as long as he had Mr Coates’s confidence, of which Mr Coates assured him; and at the same time expressed the wish should carry on, with the understanding th>2t Mr Paterson should continue the policy outlined on November Bth, which policy had since been scrupulously followed. In December Mr Paterson informed Mr Coates that it was impossible to carry on, if Mr J. B. Wright -were appointed to the London Agency; and Mr Paterson fully explained his rea sons for his attitude. As Mr Wright has now been appointed, from the date of the departure of Mr lorns and Mr Motion to New Zealand, towards the end of this month, Mr Paterson asks Sir James Parr to convey to the Prime Minister his desire to resign the pos : t.ion forthwith.
