CORRESPONDENCE.
INSPECTION OF MACHINERY ACT Sir—l think it is high time action was taken against .those Owners and Employers who so persistently commit breaches of the above mentioned Act, by not employing certificated enginedrivers where such are required. As the Act was drafted with the object of the protection of life and property, it is only right that those in power, whether it be the Worker’s Inspector. The Secretary of the Timber Worker’s Union, or the Inspector of Machinery should see that the Act is complied, with. If an example were made in one or two cases, not only of the owner and employer, but also of the individual who is only too willing to usurp the position of the legitimate engine driver, it would no doubt tend to stem this per nicious practice which is at present in ; vogue. I am Etc. INTERESTED.
