Improvements to be Made. CURBING AND CHANNELLING. The Unsatisfactory drainage of Kilgour Road occupied the attention of the Borough Council last night, when a letter was received from George Ashby and six other residnts drawing attention to the inadequate drainage of the frontage of their properties. This caused a nuisance and a menace I<> health. Tliev suggested that a properly formed concrete channel be constructed to carry the drainage into the sump at the southern end ot the road. They asked that steps be taken forthwith. C. Doogan remarked that the question of drainage was a very serious one. He suggested that the matter be referred to the Engineer and the Works Committee. Thw» Engineer said a total length of 22 chains of curbing and channelling was required in Kilgour Road. Ihe cost would be £229. Cr. Kent advocated having the whole of the drain necessary to safeguard health put in. . Cr. Doogan proposed that seven chains from Devon Street south be done. Cr. Williams thought the whole 22 chains should be laid.

Cr. Doogan moved in this direction. The Mayor supported the motion. He had received continual complaints about the unsatisfactory drainage in Kilgour Road. Cr. Greenslade did not think the Council should commit itself without further consideration to the expenditure of £220, which was not provided for in the estimates.
