Woolston | K (tipped to win the test selection) played first, giving, “Sins of My Soul.” for | which they got 26 marks. The Wanga j nui Band, Queen Alexandra’s Own, with I e “Lead Kindly Light ” came fourth. Si j Hilda Band played just before Grey x mouth, giving “Nearer My God t« j. Thee” in brilliant fashion, gaining 2> ). marks ajid second place. Grevmoutb 1 ’ then gave “Nearer My God To Thee’’ ’’ also. The interpretation was splendid, v the Judge remarking: “I have hear! y some splendid playing, better than i g had anticipated. I admired the Leauti<l fill tonal qualities of the leading bane-- i •6 and Hi' 1 band that wins this Hymn con s_ test is the one that has satisfied m< I with its playing and has given tin' best interpretation.
