SPORT IN BULLER.

CYCLING AND ATHLETIC. YESTERDAY’S EVENTS. (By “basanof.”) WESTPORT, December 29. There were ideal weather conditions to-day for the continuation of the Buller Jubilee Celebrations. There was a large crowd present at Victoria Square for the Athletic Cycling sports under tho auspices of the Westport Athletic, and Cycling Association. ’ 'Lindop, the local crack cyclist was in rare form (Capturing three events but proving that llandicapper Wood had been to generous to him in his handicaps. Lindop &nd Hulquist proved, capable of giving a bigger limit to the maiden ridel's regularly starting who find it most difficult to get into tho money. Caldwell made his first appearance as a cyclist, showing great promise and should go tar in the cycling games. Griffiths, of Greymouth, won the big sprint by a narrow margin. Harris ami I Griffiths will now be penalised three .yards for the Mokihinui sports. > The Municipal Band was in attendance. and a large number of the pion ears enjoyed the sports. Mr. Frank Roche excelled at starting, effecting good despatches. Several of the cyclists were warned by the referees for having failed to take their laps. The detailed results are.—

Maiden Footrace. —Jack Connolly (12 yds.) 1, Morley 2, F. Wetterron 3. Jubilee Sprint, 135 yds.—Griffiths J. Harris 2, Kearns 3. Also competed.— Crooks, Saston, and Wood. Boys’ Wheel Race. —Marr 1, Neill Beck 3.

Milo and a Half Cycle Handicap.--Lindop 1, Hultquist 2, Blair 3. Ladies’ Jubilee Sprint— Miss Chandler 1 Mrs Parkinson 2. Boys’ Race—Athers 1, Deere 2, Com ciford 3. Pioneers’ Race.—Mr. C. Dowrne won “on the bit” after a punishing finish. Three Mile Cycle Handicap.—Lindop 1. Caldwell 2, Blair 3. 120 Yards Hurdle Race.—Smith 1. Holder 2, T. Connolly 3. Quarter Mile Footrace.—Harris 1. Crooks 2, Kearns 3. Tins was a groat race tho pace being clapped on from the start. High Jump.—Holder 1, T. ConnoH' Half Mile Flat.—Harris 1, Larsen 2, ’.McHerron 3. This was a fast run race, the time being 2.4., a record for tin[track since the revival of the local sports.
