On Tuesday evening the Westport Athletic and Cycling Association functioned for the second lime this season with me of their popular evening ’.peris gatherings, and as the days draw out the weekly meetings will continue io court mote favour and this live wire Association have now* certainly jus.i fied their existence, as the number of “peds” and cyclists that have already turned out goes to show that by the time the athletic season is in full swing there should be no end of competitors. The various capable officials of the Association were m their appointed places at the time of starting, and everything was carried out without a hitch. Tn the running ranks, Jones warabsent, as also was the crack cyclist Hulquist, who were both attending military camp at Burnham. Craddock the coming half-miler, was still suffer ing from injuries received in the Al bion Cup final football fixture. AlcTntyrc did not nominate in vii'w of a more serious undertaking on Wednesday, but will again be “on deck’’ as thc season rolls along. Detailed results:

ATHLETIC EVENTS. 220 yards.— J. AVoodward (18) 1. W. Crooks (9) 2, Al. Robinson (6) 3. Also ran: AVoods (scr), Holder, Connolly, Easton (10), Phipps (11), McTleron (12). Woodward led all the way and although strongly challenged by Crooks, lasted long enough to win by a narrow margin, Robinson a good third. 440 yards.— W. Phipps (17) 1, A. Larsci (8) 2, Al. Robinson (12) 3. Also ran: V r oods (1), O’Dea (14), Connolly. Holder (16), Crooks. McHerron (17), Woodward (22). Phipps took the lead early and although Larsen put in a strong claim over thc final furlong, he failed to overhaul the leader. CYCLING EVENTS. One mile and a half cycle race.— C. Cummings (250) 1, R. Cropp (200) 2, T. Jenkison (250) 3. Also started: Lin: dop (scr), Blair (60), JI. Ferguson (110), AV. Ferguson (125), Treloar, Betts (200). Jenkison and Cummings made all the running till joined in the last lap Iby Crop]), when a fine, set-to took place, Cummings lasting long enough in the run home to win by a length, with Jenkison a similar distance away third. After going six laps, Lindop overhauled the field and took the lead, which for a. time was temporarily taken by other riders. Going out of the straight the last time round, Blair rushed to thc front, followed by Lindo]) and Cropp. Out, of the back straight, Lindop made his sprint, pass cd Blair, and won by three lengths, with Cropp, who had ridden well, a similar distance away third.
