SYRIAN MANDATE.
FRANCE HAD ENOUGH. WILL ITALY - SUCCEED? LONDON, Oct. 28. The possibility of a bargain between France and Italy concerning Syria is discussed by the Daily Telegraph’s diplomatic correspondent, who says:—-“The Erencli Ministers are now either anxious for, or are resigned to the day of their returning t hfe Syrian mandate tj the League, if they can do so without loss of prestige Moreover, they might acquiesce in the choice of Italy as the new man datory, if Italy, amxfiig other considerations is- willing to abandon her aspirations in Tangier. There Is r,o doubt that progress has been achieved in the course of Hie prelimhlarv soundings. The Italians contend that they would succeed in Syria where the French have failed, by leaning wpon (h e Arab, the Moslem and the Christian elements, instead of relying upon a minority.
