At a meeting of the State Executive of the Australian Labour Party, consideration. was given to the resolutions passed bv several unions protesting against the carrying out of death penalties imposed on Coulter and Treffene. declaring that capital punishment would be contrary Io the platform of the Australian Labour Party. The General Secretary issued a statement to tho (‘fleet that the platform did not include any provision either for the continuation or for the abolition of capital punishmen r. Resolutions carried at previous conferences were merely exjiressions of opinion, and no* binding on members of Parliament, elected to carry out the Labour platform. •—
