Th*' prize-winners at the Kunang.i Bowling Club’s euchre tournament, held on Saturday last, were: First, Mr Speakman; second, Airs Beudsmore. A treat is in store for the Runanga •people on Friday next in the Miners’ Hall, when the Dowling Club’s monster I l ‘bag day’’ will be held. It will be. yellowed by a dance, for which a lirsti lass orchestra and ru ideal floor are guaranteed. A ‘‘welcome home” to Air and Airs Armstrong was given in the Gymnasium last (.'veiling, r l he hall was tastefully decorated with streamers and evergreens. During the evening, dancing was indulged in, music being supplied by the Runanga Band, while extras were ]>layed by Alesdamcs O’Neill and Alanderson ami Air Allen. The duties of M’s.C. were capably carried out bv Alessis R. Naisbitl and A. Winstanley. Trueman; I dance, Miss Mollie Coulthard, “The Dying Swan.” I Aliss VV. Coulthard, on behalf of the ! Runanga Gymnastic Class, said it gave 1 er great pleasure to present Airs Armatrong with a pair of pictures in token of their regard. They wished her llon.g life and happiness Aliss Coulithard thou turned to her colleagues and said, “What arc they girls?” In-L-tanllv, the gym girls burst forth into [melody, singing “For They Arc Jolly jGood Fellows.” Air Timlin, on behalf of the Tennis I Club, presented Airs Armstrong with a (lock, and wished her a happy and prosperous future. “For They are Jolly Good Fellows” was heartily sung bv the company, after which Air Armstrong. sour., rose to respond on behalf of his son, and said he wished to thank the donors df 11k? presents, and he then called upon Air W. Southward to offer thanks on behalf of his daughter. Air Southward endorsed the remarks of the previous speaker, and thanked the company for th(ir kindness. Mr J. Armstrong, amid great applause, rose to the occasion and 1 hanked all present fur their unexpected tribute.
