THE WEATHER.
WELLINGTON, July 22. Mr. D. C. Bates reports:—The present indications are for moderate to strong southerly winds, veering to nor therlies northward of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, and freshening north ©rlieg prevailing elsewhere, and the .weather being cold and showery, but improving temporarily in the East Coast districts, and unsettled conditions following generally with the development of a westerly disturbance. The barometer is falling everywhere shortly.
