WESTRALIAN FLOODS.
EXTEND TO CAPITAL. PERTH, July 21. So far thirty washouts were found on the four railways in surrounding districts, owing to the floods. The Swan river at Perth has become a vast expanse of water. Damage to houses in the metropolitan area is extensive. Tins was due mainly to the terrific wind which reached a velocity of seventy-six miles an hour. Train services, including the transcontinental, have been cancelled indefinitely. English mails, brought ashore from the steamer Comorin, on Monday, will be considerably delayed. FURTHER RAIN AND/ GALES. "PERTH, July 21. The rain continues, and there -are pro spects of a heavy gale. Reports from the whole countryside indicate phenomenal floods ami extensive damage. The first fatality so far reported is the death of Mrs Barrington, of Cottesloe. who stepped on a live wire blown down by the gale, and was electrocuted. All the country train services are still suspended. The' trans-continental service has also been cancelled until the weather conditions improve.
