Continuing Australia’s innings, Ryder and Andrews drove vigorously ami attractively till the latter badly mistimed a ball from Smith. Ryder and Richardson continued a bright display, driving ami hitting anything loose, but Ryder got out through over anxiety to reach the fifty. The innings was then declared closed. Scotland opened slowly, Everett and Ryder doing most of the attacking. Tliey maintained a good pace length but wore on the short side, the lad. often kicking badly. Collins showed great confidence and effected several clever cuts. Maguire was a mixture of confidence and uncertainty. Innes played attractively both driving and hitting Richardson to log powerfully.
