POPULACE OBJECT. To Abolition of Police Station. (Received July l‘J at 10.55 p.m.) (Reuter.) TOKYO, July 18. A riot occurred at Nagano, as the ro suit of the Governor’s proposal to economise by abolishing the police station. The populace feared an increase of crime. A crowd of five thousand stormed the Governor’s residence. He and the Chief of Police were injured. The riot spread and the police were powerless to control it. but it was later dispersed before the arrival of troops. One hundred including twenty ix> lice were injured.
