(Our Own OhrTespond’eni.) WESTPORT, March 20. The Borough roadmen are busy giving Palmerston Street footpaths a touching up, tarring and sanding them, while the weather ig good for that kind of works. As tho date previously decided upon for Sports on Victoria Square by the Westport Athletic and Cycling Assaciation, cannot be adhered’to. a further meeting of the Association is necessary to decide on a dale which will bo advertised in a later issue. Air W. Millikin, of the O’Connor Homo, reached the ripe old age of 97 on Saturday last. He received many congratulations from old friends and acquaintances. Mr Millikin took the chair at one of Mr H. E. Holland’s meetings at the O’Connor Home four years ago, and conducted the meeting as if to the manner born.

Hughes, about I tho same time, made this prophecy:— “Peace now meant war for ever; war now meant peace for ever!” What a Solomon I Is there a single rung in the ladder of progress that wasn’t constructed by a “crank,” a “fanatic,’’ a “dreamer,”’ or a visionary?” Mr Jack Comerford is visiting Waiuta on business connected with the sale of tickets for the O’Connor Homo raffle. Ar the time of drawing is approaching buyers should not waste their chance.
