WESTPORT NOTES.
(Our Own Correspondent.) WESTPORT, February 25. At the monthly meeting of the Bor ough Council on Wednesday evening Cr K, Jenkins sent in his resiguatio: on account of leaving Westport short ly, which was accepted with regret. Out of sixteen applicants lor th position of caretaker of A ictoria Squur Mr Jas. Bentley was appointed, wit. Air G. Grey as runner-up. Air Henley gave a detailed accoun of the Highways Conference, reconti. held at Greymouth. It was must iutci esting, and he received a vote c thanks. The Mayer gave an accoun of the Municipal Conference held a Dunedin, which was also very interest ing, and he was also given a vote (>• thanks for his report. The Fire Brigade, the Westport Ath [ letie Association and the Bullet £occu Football Club applied for the use of th ! square for some weeks to come. It wu ieciilcd to refer the applications to th General Purposes Commitec to go fuli, | into the matter uf alloting the days tu the different sports bodies.
