Nearly 4,500 motor cars for New Zealand, as well as hundreds of motor tractors, arrived from (,'anadu by the Canadian Government steamer ’’Canadian Spinner,” which reached Auckland from Halilax yesterday morning. Ihe average value of the motor cars imported into New Zealand last year was about £l9O each, so that the cars
on the ship represent a value of about £bSO,O(JU. Practically the whole of the Uairulian Spinner’s c<irg'o consists of motor imports. Besides cars, she carries a large quantity of motor parts ami tractors. Auckland’s share of the cargo weighs 2,400 tons, including 1280 cars, and 306 tractors. The remainder of the cargo is for southern ports. Apart from other motor goods, Wellington is to receive 1980 cars, LyU-J ton 239, Timaru 667, and Dunedin 25C. The Canadian Spinner’s consignment of cars has been exceeded at least once . before, when a steamer of the Canadian Government brought over 5,900 cars for New Zealand ports.
