NOW AND THEN

(By

Tom A. Hawke.)

When working men, and women too, revere the bosses point of view, and in their daily labours strive to keep the ruling class alive; and with the best to eat supplied, with silks to wear, and cars to ride, with baths of lavender and rose, and slaves to manicure their toes. So long as working men declare that longer hours should be their share, and wages must come down to meet the soaring price of what we eat. So bug as working men are tame, and meekly play the bosses game, and never try to change their bit, but be content with what they've got. So long- will frothy puppets rise, and laud the workers to the skies, and sing their praise throughout the land, and say, “My oath, but Henry’s grand! 1.-’s such a noble plodding wight, and all he >/es is surely right, and in his safe and sane embrace no terrors shall beset the race.'' But, when the workers wake and sec what slaves they aland still shall be until together they combine in factory, field, and shop, and mine to throw their rulers powers aside, and by themselves in freedom ride, how- soon the bosses tools get sick, and loudly shout, “The Bolshevik! He, wants to take the earth we know-, and change our glorious status quo.’’
