A child endowment scheme has been adopted bythe Government of Queensland. The cost of the scheme will be £2,250,600 per year, which amount will be found by a five per cent, tax on the wages sheet of every employer. The endowment is not to be paid for the first child; but for the second ana for each subsequent child five shilling per week will lie paid until the child reaches the age of fourteen years.
