REEFTON NOTES
(Our own Correspondent). There was a large attendance to see the Football match .between the Reefton and the Grey Star teams, but were somewhat disappointed, as Hie game was rather a poor exhibition of Rugby, partly owing to the nature of the ground, which was very greasy from the recent rain. This made it very difficult to handle the ball, and the players had great difficulty in keeping their feet. Great things were expected from the All Black, Jack Steel, and for the first 20 minutes he showed two or three brilliant flashes, but unfortunately, in making a run for the line, he was heavily tackled by Dick Powley, as a result of which he was lame, and not much use t° his team afterwards. The local team ran up 14 points in the first half, scores being registered by Gallagher, Nicolson, Pattersen and Bob Powley, one of which was converted by Dick Powley. In the second half, Pascoe scored for the Stars, but Steel failed to convert. Ho also had several shots at goal from penalties, but was not successful in putting one over, although making some excellent kicks. Mr D. .Twomey refereed the game, and gave every satisfaction.
