COMPENSATION CLAIM
WIDOW NON-SUITED. OAMARU, August 3. A case, was heard in the Arbitration Tor.rt to-day in which Catherine Ann Bolton claimed £750 compensation from .ho Waitaki C< unty Cou-ncil in respect to the death of her husband. The deceased was a surfaceman in Ilie employ of the Council. During the performance cf his duties, he sustained >n injury to his finger and septic noisC'.iing resulted. He was admitted to the Hospital, and died a few days later. The Hospital Surgeon stated on the 'ortificate that the cause of diath was pneumonia. The statement of claim alleged that he pneumonia was the result of the poisoning cf the finger. After hearing medical evidence, the Court gave judgment for the defenlants. hoi Ihig that the evidence did not disclose that the pneumonia was he result of the injury to the finger, is alleged. The Court leaves for Christchurch mil Wellington to-morrow.
