BIDS AT ABT UNION AUCTION. LONDON, July 27. Tlie sensational sale of tue content! of the late Mr J. Sargent’s studio was completed at Christie’s, which was again crowded by European and Amer ican buyers. The successful bids totalled ton thousand guineas an hour, though most of the works were only copies of Velasquez’s ‘ ‘ Ililanderas’ sold for 1900 guineas, a copy of a head by Hals, 1350 guineas, prices whirl suggest original masterpieces. Othei offerings were slight sketches of Snr gent’s own work including decorations for the Boston museum, and sketches of a Bedouin Chief brought 3,400 gns. The sale totalled £175,260.
