AN ANGLICAN DIFFICULTY CHRISTCHURCH, July 28. In its second venture to obtain a Bishop for the Diocese of Christchurch, the Anglican Synod has met with a partial failure. A member of th---clergy i>a England, whom the Synod, sitting in conference, favoured as a suitable man, has refused their offer. “You can say that the delegation appointed by the Synod has met wnb disappointment in its first attempt,” said the Dean of Christchurch, when asked if a reply had been received to an offer which was presumed to have been made relative to the Bishopric. The delegation referred to by the. Dean consists of Air 11. D. Anderson (Chancellor), Canon Galway ( Registrar) and Dean Carrington (as Bishop Commissory).
