AMID SWISS ALPS. MATTERHORN SLIPS. (Received July at 9.30 p.m.) LONDON, Jul-,- gij. The “Daily Express's” Geneva correspondent says: Great crevasses are appearing o .i the side of the Matterhorn. Boulders are tumbling down ami threatening to engulf villages and hamlets. The danger has been increasing for the past mouth, until the authorities have ordered a dozen villages to be evacuated. Troops were sent to force the villagers to leave, but they declared that they’ are prepared to die tn their homes. Recent heavy rains are the cause of the landslips.
