SHUNTERS’ DECISION
TO IGNORE INQUIRY. NO CONFIDENCE IN BOARD AVELLINGTON, July 27. At a meeting of the 'flicnidon branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, the AVellington Shunters’ Council reported that its members had decided to ignore the Board of Inquiryset up by the Minister of Railways, to consider and report on the ■ -s cf the shunters throughout the Dominion . The reasons given are that the Bo ird consists of Departmental officers who would be virtually trying themselvco; that t?;o Second Division members of the Board did not have the confide i re of the AVellington shunters. It was further contended that tl>'Brard of Inquiry should be eomposni of unl/ssed and impartial men, outside tiie Railway Service alt' goth ?r; and that the sittings should be open to the press and the public. The meeting of the Thoi’idon A.S.K.S. decided wholeheartedly to support the Shunters’ Council in its attitude.
